A professional epoxy flake floor is a bonded, multi-layer resin system—not ordinary garage floor paint. The concrete is mechanically prepared, defects are treated where required, the resin system is applied, decorative flakes are broadcast across the surface and everything is sealed beneath a clear protective topcoat.

Unlike basic garage floor coating paints, the system is designed to provide stronger adhesion, greater build and a more durable finish. Unlike interlocking tiles, it creates a continuous surface without open joints where dirt and moisture can collect. The final result is easier to clean and gives the garage a professionally finished appearance.

In many cases, yes. We inspect the concrete first and repair suitable stable cracks, holes and damaged areas before applying the resin system. This preparation is essential because coating over untreated damage would simply hide the problem rather than correct it.

Resin flooring cannot stop structural movement beneath the floor. Active or moving cracks may return and could require specialist repair or a different approach. We will explain any concerns before providing the final specification and quotation.

Old paint and failing coatings are mechanically removed as part of the preparation process. Surface oil and grease can often be treated using specialist cleaning and mechanical preparation before the resin is applied.

Deep oil contamination must be assessed carefully because resin needs clean, sound concrete to bond correctly. Where contamination is severe, additional treatment or local concrete removal may be required. We will not simply coat over oil and hope that it holds.

Moisture is important because excessive vapour coming through the concrete can affect adhesion. We assess the floor condition before installation and, where appropriate, specify a damp-proof epoxy primer or moisture-control system beneath the decorative floor.

A DPM can manage suitable moisture conditions, but it is not a repair for active water leaks, flooding or severe hydrostatic pressure. Any significant source of water should be identified and resolved before installation.

The flake broadcast naturally creates more surface texture than a completely smooth, plain resin finish. The final level of grip also depends on the selected clear topcoat and texture.

Where additional slip resistance is needed, a suitable anti-slip additive can be incorporated into the topcoat. No floor can be guaranteed slip-proof, particularly when contaminated with water, oil or other substances, so spills should still be cleaned promptly. Not immediately. Light foot traffic is usually possible after approximately 24 hours, but we normally recommend waiting around 5–7 days before parking a vehicle so the system can cure properly.

Temperature, ventilation, products used and site conditions can affect curing time. We will give you clear aftercare and access instructions when the installation is completed.

The seamless surface is straightforward to maintain because there are no open joints between tiles. Regular sweeping or vacuuming removes grit, while routine cleaning can normally be completed using warm water and a suitable pH-neutral cleaner.

Avoid aggressive solvents, highly abrasive cleaning tools and dragging sharp or heavy objects across the surface. We provide practical aftercare guidance following installation.

Yes. The entire floor must be clear before work begins so we can mechanically prepare and coat the concrete from edge to edge. Vehicles, shelving that sits on the floor, tools, boxes and other stored items should be removed.

Wall-mounted items can usually remain if they do not obstruct access. If you are unsure about a large or fixed item, send us a photograph before installation.

We provide a 2-year workmanship warranty with qualifying installations. This covers defects resulting directly from our installation workmanship, subject to the written warranty terms and correct use and maintenance of the floor.

It does not cover normal wear, scratching, impact damage, chemical damage, moisture or movement originating from the substrate, structural cracking or misuse. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

A professionally finished epoxy flake floor can make a garage feel cleaner, brighter and more usable while creating a surface that is easier to maintain than bare concrete. It is suitable for garages used for parking, storage, hobbies, home gyms and practical workshop activities.
